Procedure
to prepare sambar:
- Step1: Clean and wash the red gram and soak it for about 10 minutes.
- Step2: Take a cooker pan and add soaked red gram and 2 cups water close with the lid and cook it for about 5 whistles.
- Sep3: After that keep it aside for about 20 minutes till the pressure goes off.
- Step4: Now add some salt in red gram and mash it with wooden spoon.
- Step5: Add 4 to 5 cups of water and blend well then boil it for 2 minutes.
- Step6: Now add turmeric powder, onions, okra, brinjal, tomato, carrot, drumstick, curry leaves, bottle gourd, green chilies, and salt boil it for about 20 minutes
- Step7: The vegetables are half boiled then add potato and tamarind pulp cooks it for about 15 minutes.
- Step8: Now add the sambar powder, grated coconut and coriander leaves cook it for about 5 minutes.
- Step9: Meanwhile prepare for seasoning take pan pour oil for seasoning and heat it for a minute.
- Step 10: Now add cumin, mustard, fenugreek, red chili and garlic fry until it crackles.
- Step11: Add curry leaves and pinch of asafoetida fry it for 2 minutes in medium flame after that switch off the heat.
- Step12: Now add this seasoning into the sambar.
- Step13: Serve this tasty sambar with rice.
