Idli

Idli recipe
idli ingredientsIngredients:
  • ·        Urad dal – ¼ kg.
  • ·        Idli rava – ½ kg.
  • ·        Rock salt as needed.
  • ·        Fenugreek seeds – 2 tablespoons.
  • ·        Water – 1 cup

Procedure to prepare idli:
  • Step1: Wash and soak the urad dal for overnight and add fenugreek seeds.

  • Step2: Soak the idli rava for about 3 to 4 hours.
  • Step3: Drain off the water from urad dal
  • Step4: Grind the urad dal along with fenugreek seeds, some salt and add water to prepare thick and smooth batter.
  • Step5: Now take this batter in a bowl.
  • Step6: Squeeze off the water by taking rava in between your palms. Try to remove the excess water in idli rava
  • Step7: Add it into the urad dal batter and blend it well.
  • Step8: Now grease the idli moulds with oil or ghee. And pour batter in the moulds.
  • Step9: Steam it for about 10 minutes in medium flame.
  • Step10: Switch off the stove and leave it for 2 minutes.
  • Step11: Serve this idli with sambar or pickles or ghee and sugar or coconut chutney.
