Chakkara Pongali Ingredients
Ingredients:
  • ·         Moong dal – 1 cup
  • ·         Rice – 1 cup
  • ·         Cardamom powder – 1/2 tablespoon
  • ·         Ghee – 1/2 cup
  • ·         Cashew nuts – 50 grams
  • ·         Milk – 1/2 liter
  • ·         Water – 2 cups
  • ·         Grated  Coconut – 1/2 cup
  • ·         Sugar – 2 cups.

Procedure to prepare chakkara pongali:

Step 1: Firstly take a pan add the moong dal and rice fry it dry roast on a medium flame until the raw aroma rises.  

Step 2: Take a cooker pour 3 cups of water add sugar, rice and moong dal blend it well and cook it for about 3 whistles or till the rice and dal becomes soft.

Chakkara Pongali RecipeStep 3: When the pressure from the cooker is down remove the lid.

Step 4: Add sugar to the cooked rice, cardamom powder, milk, and add grated coconut mix it well and cook it for about 15 minutes in a medium flame.

Step 5: Take a frying pan pour ghee add the cashew nuts  fry it 5 seconds and add the cooked rice mix it well and sauté it for another 10 minutes in medium flame.

Step 6: Cook until the pongali thickens comes and switch off the flame.

Step 7: Tasty Andhra chakara pongali ready.
