Red Gram With Red Sorrel

Ingredients:
    Red Gram With Red Sorrel Ingredients
  • ·         Red gram : 2 cups
  • ·         Chopped red sorrel : 3 cups
  • ·         Chopped onions : 2 tablespoons
  • ·         Green chilli : 4
  • ·         Mustard : 1/2 tablespoon
  • ·         Cumin  : 1/2 tablespoon
  • ·         Garlic cloves : 2 tablespoons
  • ·         Chopped dry chilli : 4  tablespoons
  • ·         Chopped curry leaves : 3 tablespoons
  • ·         Red chilli powder: 2 tablespoons.
  • ·         Salt to taste.
  • ·         Water: 7 cups.
  • ·         Oil as required.

Directions to making Red Gram with Red Sorrel:

 Step 1: Firstly clean and wash the red sorrel.

Step 2: Wash the red gram and take a bowl pour the water add washed red gram soak it for about 30 minutes then drain the excess water.

Red Gram With Red Sorrel RecipeStep 3: Take a cooker pour more than double the amount of water to the quantity of red grams, the add red grams, chopped onions and green chilli then close the cooker pan with the lid cook it for 3 whistles. Keep it aside until the pressure goes off.

Step 4: Take another pan add boiled red gram, chopped red sorrel, salt, red chili powder and add 1 cup of water cook it 10 minutes in high flame.  

Step 5: Meanwhile preparing for seasoning; take a frying pan pour oil; add mustard, cumin, crushed garlic cloves, few Curry leaves and chopped dry chili sauté it 5 minutes in medium flam. And add it to the boiled red gram blend it well .  

Step 6: Try and Serve this tasty south Indian Red gram with red sorrel or pappu gongura along with cooked rice
